The Youth Advocates of Sitka Transitional Living Program equips homeless youth and youth at risk for homelessness ages 17 through 24 years old with the skills and education necessary to become independent, productive adults. The program’s goal is to help youth develop much-needed independent living skills in a nurturing environment that offers stability, consistency and safety, including housing for up to 18 months, case management, and supportive services.
TRANSITIONAL LIVING PROGRAM GOALS

Increase the independent life skills functioning of transitioning aged youth (TAY)

Provide TAY with access to services including: life and interpersonal skill building, career counseling, education and degree/GED attainment, vocational training, mental health and substance abuse counseling, independent living skills, and medical care as appropriate.

Assist youth in fostering a sense of connection to their community

Decrease likelihood of TAY becoming homeless

Assist youth in developing healthy life-long recreational activities, hobbies and interests that promote physical, social and mental health

Empower youth to grow into healthy, happy, and productive members of our community
